Bonnie Hanock - Screening of the Diamond of the Sea

Come and join fellow Club members to the screening of "Diamond of the Sea" with the amazing Bonnie Hancock. This is a documentary of her record setting paddle around Australia. Want to know more? Here is a preview! https://www.facebook.com/reel/1902188356907694

Tickets include BBQ Dinner. Please book a ticket for each person in your house attending:  https://eimeo-surf-lifesaving-supporters-club-inc.square.site/

More info:

During her record-breaking circumnavigation of Australia by paddle, Bonnie Hancock encountered sharks, crocodiles, huge seas, gale force winds and near hypothermia, but these challenges were just the beginning.

In becoming the fifth person to successfully complete the journey, Bonnie faced an endless expanse of ocean with no land in sight for weeks at a time and a sea of self-doubt, and was forced to lean on those around her in a way she never had to in ten years as a professional ironwoman. Buoyed by the kindness and generosity of strangers, she was guided home by a host of colourful characters who epitomise the Australian spirit.

DIAMOND OF THE SEA is a story of resilience, a tale of digging deep within to overcome adversity, but equally it is a love letter to Australia with her rugged but beautiful coastline, and a celebration of the unique creatures she is home to.

Dive into a life-changing adventure around our island home, experiencing Australia from a perspective never seen before.

BONNIE HANCOCK:

Bonnie Hancock will be at our Club on the 17 and 18 August for the Women and Girls Program. Eimeo SLSC have been successful with the QLD Government Active Women and Girls Program. We are very excited to announce that as part of this grant we have had the amazing Bonnie Hancock put together an action packed program for the 17 and 18 August at Eimeo SLSC. We will have the pleasure of hosting Bonnie at our Club for the weekend :)

The program will focus on goal setting, mental resilience and fueling your body to perform. It is NOT an athletic program. We have a weekend packed with hands on workshops, sessions and fitness. As we understand a number of our male members would love to be involved, Bonnie has worked with us to come up with a program with a little bit of something for most people. The sessions open to males are blue in the table below. The program is free - we just ask you to register. We may need to reduce numbers for specific sessions if we are over subscribed.

The program is open to female members U11 and up (we would recommend parents attending the non-water based activities). The topics being discussed are targeted to members involved in the Club from a management, age manager, coaching, patrolling perspective to competition.

Each family that participates in the Program will receive a signed copy of Bonnie’s biography The Girl Who Touched the Stars.

You do not need to participate in the "Let's Get Active" sessions with Bonnie. We anticipate that we will have a number of female members who would like to do the non-physical sessions and Pilates but the idea of getting on a ski or a board is a bit too much and that is completely okay - we are sure there will be a number of kids who will happily take those sessions 🙂

To be able to attend you must be a financial member for the 2024-25 season. Membership renewals will need to be processed through Members Portal and fees paid by the 10 August (season fees will be released on the weekend). This program is NOT open to non-members.

CONGRATS!
