TRAINING

Would you like to get more involved and give back to your Club? Our Club does not exist if we do not patrol - so our volunteers who assist with the beach are the backbone of our Club. You do not need to be a sporting hero.  We have 3 courses starting in November:

    • Observer - no swimming required: This is the starting Award and gives you a taste of Surf Life Saving, once you have obtained this you can complete Radio Operator, First Aid and Advance Resus. Members with Observers can join our Patrol Groups.
    • Surf Rescue Certificate - this will allow you to assist with Water Safety and Patrol. Entry requirement: 200m pool swim in under 5 mins.
    • Bronze Medallion - this award will allow you to assist with water Safety and Patrol. Once you have your bronze there are many pathways that open up - from competing to getting competencies to allow you in the IRB. Entry requirement: 400m pool swim in under 9 mins.

      How does it work?
      • You need to be a financial member of Eimeo (or if you are already a member you need to have a Members Portal Account)
      • Your Bluecard has been processed and linked to your profile
      • Complete online requirements of CYRMS (Child protection elearning - this is quick) Register for the Course (you will need a USI)
      • Complete your swim
      • Complete the course: undertake the elearning for the course at a time that suits you & the practical will be at Eimeo

EXCITING CLUB NEWS

Yesterday afternoon we had the pleasure of welcoming Amanda Camm (LNP candidate for Whitsunday) to our Club. Amanda has been a long time supporter of our Club from her days on council to State. If the LNP are elected, we will receive $50,000 to prepare a Master Plan for the Eimeo Surf Club area. This money will allow us to have a specialised consultant come in and run workshops with members and the community to work through our needs for the future and then prepare a high level blueprint. This will allow us to be able to go forward with a plan for the future and hopefully secure grant funding in the longer term to execute this vision.

Surf Sports Update

Forrest Beach carnival had a small but mighty team head up to the most northern Club in our branch. We didn't get many photos as all of the adults involved had many jobs :)

A number of our nippers who swim with Pioneer had  the opportunity to train with Geoff Huegill this evening. The session started with the importance of goal setting and planning and then they hit the pool for a swim session along side Geoff. What a great opportunity, they can say that not only were they coached by an Olympic champion they actually got to swim alongside a legend.

CONGRATS!

Congratulations Luke Phegan (U11) on a stella Qld Schools State Athletics carnival 3rd in the relay | 2nd 100m | 5th 200m.
