Father's day - 3 September will be our first weekend at the beach this season for Nippers and Lifesaving. Why not make your father's day different by coming down?
This Sunday we will have our "Acknowledgement to Country" on the beach in front of the Club house. Hugh and Brendan will be playing the didgeridoo (8.25am for 8.30am start). All community and members welcome
After our "Acknowledgement to Country" we will start with our nippers day. We start to organise the kids from 8.45am.
Stinger suits are required along with a pink vest and Club cap. The uniform shop will be open this Wednesday afternoon 4.30 to 5.30, Friday night 5-6pm and Sunday morning 7.30 to 9.
Membership renewals are now open. Please start the process of renewing your membership so that we can commence detailed planning for the season. Our Patrolling members with 25 + hours (from the previous season) will continue to receive "free" membership this year in recognition for their hard work and commitment to keeping the Public safe. Our membership fees for Junior Activities remains the same as last year. Go to: https://members.sls.com.au/ You can use your Fair Play Vouchers at Eimeo.
Patrolling News
We have been working with SLSQ for the past 3 months to work out how to alleviate some of the pressure on patrolling members. From the start of the season until December we will be patrolling Sunday's only with a review point in November to determine if this needs to continue for January. As part of this negotiation we are required to put in 110% effort to recruit new members to complete their Bronze and SRC.
For new members and nippers families we need your help! You don't need to be a surfer, swimmer or gun athlete - rather the willingness to give it a go and commit to patrolling at Eimeo. If every family had 1 person on our patrolling roster this would mean we would have enough patrolling members. To put this in context - Nippers exists at Eimeo because we patrol our beach.
Andrew Malouf and Marti will be putting together the Patrol Roster based on this outcome along with the feedback from people of patrolling once a month. To be able to achieve this outcome it has meant that our patrol groups will be smaller. Andrew will be sending out an email to all patrolling members this week with the patrol groups and the roster.

Surf Sports Update
Welcome to another exciting season of competing in surf sports. The Carnival dates for North Barrier Branch region (which Eimeo is part of) have been confirmed for the season and are as below:
- 16th & 17th September, Magnetic Island (Alma Bay) Carnival. This is a carnival for U8 to Masters and is an excellent carnival if you are thinking about competing for the first time.
- 7th & 8th October, Forrest Beach Carnival U8 to Masters.
- 27th, 28th and 29th October, North Aussies at Mackay Harbour. U11 to Masters.
- 11th November, Surf Rescue Championships, Alva Beach Ayr.
- 2nd & 3rd December North Barrier Branch Championships, Sarina Beach. U8 to Masters.
As the first carnival on Magnetic Island is approaching fast, please think about whether your family is interested. All children competing at this carnival will need to have done their pool, beach and competition proficiencies.
Pool proficiencies dates: Saturday 26th Aug between 3pm to 5pm and Sunday 27th August between 10am to 12pm at Pioneer Pool.
Beach and competition proficiencies: Wednesday 30th August at 4:30pm, Sunday 3rd September at 8am and 6th September at 4:30pm all at Eimeo Beach.
If you are planning on attending Magnetic Island please submit your carnival nomination forms as soon as possible so that we can complete required paperwork (this includes renewing your memberships)
Note: For Magnetic Island Carnival any proficiencies completed after these dates may not have enough time to be processed (Branch head office) and therefore make competitors eligible to compete. Additional proficiency dates will be put out for the other carnivals.
SLSQ Surf Sports Update is available here for the forthcoming season. It has all the dates, carnivals and events that are on in Queensland. If you wish to attend an event outside of our Branch carnivals, could you please let me know as I have to advise our Branch office for insurance purposes and to get permission from the appropriate surf club DOSS if it is a carnival.
Any questions please contact myself or catch up with me on the weekend at the Pool proficiencies.
Thanks,
Ross surfsports@eimeoslsc.com.au
Training Courses
IRB CREWIES & DRIVERS COURSE - 16 and 17 September at Mackay - If you are interested in doing your IRB Drivers and Crewies on 16/17 September email training@eimeoslsc.com.au
Bronze and Surf Rescue Course - Without patrolling members we do not have a surf club or the ability to offer junior activities. We ask you this season to think about doing this training. A Surf Rescue Certificate allows you to assist with water safety at nippers and carnivals.
Eimeo Surf Life Saving Club will be running a Bronze and SRC course from 10 September on Nipper Sundays. If you are interested, email training@eimeoslsc.com.au
Sarina Surf Life Saving Club is running a Bronze and SRC Course from the 19 to 23 September. We would love to see some Eimeo members on this course. This course will be run over the 5 days for bronze and 3 for SRC to allow for it to be completed in a compressed period of time. email training@eimeoslsc.com.au if you are interested in attending. The first week of the school holidays we have the NBB Youth Camp for SRC & Bronze up at Magnetic Island. This is the best location for youth to complete their training as the program is designed to be fun, targeted and a great environment to build lasting friendships.
